BILLY “FRANK” MEADE, 72

Breadman/Golfer

LAKE WALES--Billy “Frank” Meade, 72, of Lake Wales died Friday, July 06, 2007 at his residence.

Born August 28, 1934 in Verdenville, West Virginia; he was born to Leonard and Della Meade, and was one of eight children. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Lois Meade. During their 51 year marriage they enjoyed their three daughters, Teresa, Marilyn, and Angel, their nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Frank served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and spoke of this time with much pride. He retired from ButterKrust Bakeries after twenty-five years of service. Since retirement he has enjoyed life to its fullest, spending most of the time on the golf course, with that cross-handed golf swing he was known for. Frank was able to travel to Scotland to play the world famous, St. Andrews Golf Course. He also competed in the Dupont Amateur Golf Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for nineteen years. One of his greatest accomplishments in the game of golf was to have not one, but three hold in one’s.

Frank was saved on July 16, 1967 and has been a member of Landmark Baptist, the church he loved so dearly, for 32 years. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his gift of never meeting a stranger, but first and foremost his love and devotion to his Lord, his family and his country.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday, July 09, 2007 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City.
