Betty Lou Smith, 88

Betty Lou Smith of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at her residence.

She was born March 25, 1932 in Waynesboro, Virginia to the late Charles and Samantha Curry; she came to Florida from Ohio 8 years ago. Betty was a billing clerk Nickels Bakery and Standard Oil of Ohio/BP from where she retired. She was a member of both the Open Door Baptist Church in Ohio and the Garden Grove Church in Winter Haven. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club of Sohio/BP, ABWA, and the Moose Lodge.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith, Sr. in 2012; son, David Smith in 1987; nine brothers and sisters; and granddaughter, Mindy Ann. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Marie Rodden (Greg) of Lake Wales; sons, James H. Smith, Jr. (Diana) of Haines City, and Lynn Robert Smith (Michelle) of Lima, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Garden Grove Church in Winter Haven with Pastor Frank Hawley officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ada, Ohio.
