Betty L. Pontious of Babson Park passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

She was born February 28, 1922 in Bicknell, IN to the late Henry W. & Maude Case; she came here from Miami in 1980. She was a retired office manager for Lot & Acreage Headquarters Inc. and a member of the South Lake Wales Church of God. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group leader. She supported the Lake Wales Care Center, the Bok Tower Sanctuary and the Lake Wales Art’s Center. She also enjoyed traveling and reading, was a painter and made porcelain dolls.

Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Naomi Rego. Survivors include her husband, Harold E. “Gene” Pontious; sister, Marjorie Gray of Anderson, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 8, 2008 with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at the South Lake Wales Church of God with Rev. Robert Beckler officiating. Interment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lake Wales Care Center, 140 East Park Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853.
