Betty Jane Peterson Ellis died August 16, 2017 in Lake Wales Florida on her birthday. She was at home and surrounded by her 4 children.
Lifelong resident of Jamestown NY before retiring to Lake Wales in 1990. Born August 16,1928, the daughter of S. Edwin and Ruth Helga Lundine Peterson. Before retiring she was a medical Receptionist for Kim and Sutaria, MD. Betty also worked for many years as book keeper for Ecklof Bakery. A 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School. Betty was an active member of the class of 46 reunion committee. She was a member of Busti Federated Church, Busti Fire Dept. Auxiliary, a member of the Lakewood-Busti Golden angers, Ingjald Lodge#65, Independent Order of the Vikings. She attended the Tower Lakes Chapel and was active in the social activities of Tower Lakes, having Line Danced with their group and participated in their annual show productions. She was also a member of the Bold and Restless bowling league.
She was survived by one son, Stephen G. Ellis of Lake Wales, FL and three daughters, Marsha Ellis Siperek of Oak Ridge, NC, Cindy Ellis Jenkins of Slidell, LA and Wendy Ellis Burkett of Port St. John, FL. Betty had twelve grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her brother S. William Peterson and three sisters Corrine VanVlack of Memphis and MaryJane Grey of Jamestown and an infant sister Maijken Peterson. Betty was a loving mother and very proud grandmother. She spent her life loving and serving others. She is now at home with her Lord and reunited with her loving husband of 62 years.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Tower Lakes Clubhouse in Lake Wales.
