Betty Jean McClure Bennett, 87

Betty Jean McClure Bennett of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

She was born February 11, 1934 in Lake Wales to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Floyd McClure, Sr. (Ollie Rebecca Acree). Betty was a retired secretary and school bus driver for Polk County. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Betty is preceded in death by her only brother, Thomas Floyd McClure, Jr.; and longtime companion, Marlin Duane Hazel. Betty is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Wyvetta Ellsworth of Lake Wales, and Jonnie Anne Alonge of Lake Wales; stepson, David Bennett (Mary) of Florida; and four grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
