Bertina Dolores Boston passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2014 in California while visiting her children.

"Bert" or "Teenie" as she was called by family and close friends was born June 5, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended elementary school in Philadelphia and moved to New Jersey and attended Atlantic City High School. While living in New Jersey, she met and married Howard Johnson. Out of this union they had seven children Later on she met and married Marvin "Kent" Boston and had two more children.

In the seventy's, Bertina worked as a Flight Simulator for the National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center (NAFEC). Changing careers, Bertina went to Nursing School at the Atlantic County Vocational School, located in Mays Landing, New Jersey. She graduated and became a License Practical Nurse. Bertina started her nursing career working for Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, New Jersey. Continuing with this career, Bertina also worked as a Private Duty Nurse at the Linwood Convalescent Home in Linwood, New Jersey. In 1996, Bertina retired from Shore Memorial Hospital and moved to Indian Lake Estates Florida. Her husband joined her soon after.

While in Florida, Bertina made many friends and contributed her knowledge and nursing skills towards volunteering.

Bertina loved for family and friends to visit her home in Florida. She enjoyed listening to music, video taping at family events and holidays. When Bertina was able to travel, her favorite place to visit was California. She was also a huge Johnny Mathis fan and would see him perform more than five times a year. Other hobbies she enjoyed were collecting clocks, music boxes and telephones.

Bertina is predeceased by her husband Marvin "Kent" Boston, her mother, Dolores Myers, Father Thomas Scott and brother Alphonso Gaston.

Bertina is survived by her children, Darlene Johnson of Atco, New Jersey, Daryl Johnson (Pearl) of Pleasantville, New Jersey, Lamont Johnson of Azusa, California, Cheryl Ann Johnson and Leah Marshall (Craig) of Absecon, New Jersey, Mark Johnson of Lake Wales, Florida, Patricia Summers of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Stephen Johnson of Indian Lake Estates, Florida and Stacy Johnson of Rancho Cucamonga, California. Eighteen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins.

Bertina will have her final service in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Second Baptist Church and will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estelle Manor.
