Barbara Mae Dawson, 78

Barbara Mae Dawson of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Winter Haven Hospital.

She was born August 5, 1942 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late Gordon and Elsie McDaniel; she moved to Lake Wales from Arkansas 65 years ago. Barbara was a homemaker and a dedicated member of Wayside Baptist Church. She liked to crochet, fish, and go to garage sales.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Dawson; brother, Sonny McDaniel, and sister, Peggy Bryant. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Dawson of Lake Wales; son, Eddy Dawson (Cathy) of Lake Wales; sisters, Jean Taylor of Lake Wales, and Angie Spotswood (Jeff) of Babson Park; brothers, Gary McDaniel of Macon, Georgia, and Jackie McDaniel (Toni) of Winter Haven; grandchildren, James Knight, Kevin Dawson, and Amanda Meeler; and eight great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the memorial service at 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2021 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Pastor Herb Schlenker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Vitas Hospice in her honor (6850 New Tampa Highway, Suite 600, Lakeland, Florida 33815).
