Arvis E. Ellis, 88

Arvis E. Ellis of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Somers Hospice House in Sebring.

He was born August 13, 1934 in Boaz, AL to the late Clarence and Bertha Ellis; he came to Frostproof as a teenager from Boaz, AL. He retired from Ben Hill Griffin, Proctor & Gamble, Sun Pure and was a member of the Frostproof Church of God. He worked on golf carts at Lilly Lake Resort and was an avid golfer. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh.

Arvis was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Jane Ellis; three sisters, Margie Cushen, Vera Gerrard and Jewell Campbell; and eight brothers, Cecil Ellis, J.P. Ellis, Calvin Ellis, Jody Ellis, Robert Ellis, Glenn Ray Ellis, Donald Ellis and Elton Ellis. Survivors include his daughters, Donna Jean “Donnie” Allen of Frostproof, Elaine Thornton (Oran) of Frostproof and Dana Yates (Scott) of Winter Haven; brother, Davis Ellis of Frostproof, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Frostproof Church of God with Rev. Sammy Haag officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
