Arthur (Art) Nelson Hill

Arthur (Art) Nelson Hill, 74, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 19 ^th , surrounded by family at home.

Art was born on January 13, 1947 in Manchester, New Hampshire to Rena and Robert Hill.  He was married to Dorothy (Dottie) Lonsfoote Hill.

Art was Cofounder and Retired President of The Wilson House, Inc. in Lakeland, Florida.  He always said that this was not his job, but who he was.  That statement was very obvious to the people that knew and loved him.

Art was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed doing anything outdoors.  He loved to air boat, four wheel, and search for gold on Florida’s East Coast.  He was a search and rescue diver for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and diving instructor.

He was a Veteran of The Vietnam War and served in the Navy, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device.

Art is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Douglas Hill, of New Hampshire.

Art is survived by his loving wife, Dottie, son Art Hill and wife Meladee, daughters Kylee Chuckry and deceased husband Mike, Jami Radsick and husband Gary.  His bonus daughters are Allison Lonsfoote and husband Frankie, Carly Reifenrath and husband Trent, Lindsey Lonsfoote and fiancé A.J. Trevino.  Art was blessed to have 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  His entire family thought the world of him.

The family is especially grateful for the care Art received at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa and the wonderful care provided by Good Shepherd Hospice.

A private family service will be held on Tuesday, April 27 ^th , at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Wilson House, Inc., 510 Wildlife Trail, Lakeland Fl, 33809.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time with our AA family.
