Arthur "Art" Bowen Tanner, a fresh produce broker and avid outdoorsman, passed away on April 10, 2026, at Saint Joseph Main Hospital in Tampa. Born on September 20, 1945, in Quantico, Virginia, Art lived a life filled with the beauty of nature and the camaraderie of cherished organizations.
Art had a deep passion for the outdoors; he enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially ducks. His love for these activities reflected his strong connection to nature and his careful appreciation of the world around him.
Throughout his lifetime, Art was an active member of several respected groups. He belonged to the American Legion in Orlando, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the Masonic Lodge in Lake Wales, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry in Tampa, and the Egypt Shriners. These memberships highlighted the value he placed on community and fellowship
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Lucille Tanner; and former wife, Jacquelyn Tanner. Art is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Yvonne Tanner. He was a proud father to Stephanie Noel Tanner of Lake Wales and Jeffrey Bowen Tanner, who lives in Flower Mound, Texas with his wife Lauralea. Art’s family also includes his sister, Carole Elaine Sandman of Eagle, Colorado; his brother, Frank Tanner and wife Maggie of New Port Ritchie; and a cherished grandchild, Cawthon Tanner.
A graveside service will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.marionnelsonfuneralhome.com.
