Ardelle M. Carter

Ardelle M. Carter of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at her residence.

She was born September 3, 1915 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Abdella Sabe Morgan and Lacy Launa Williams Morgan Martin; she came here in 1955 from Washington, D.C. She was a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Woman's Club of Lake Wales, United Methodist Women and was a Girl Scout leader for 20 years.

Ardelle was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Kent Carter; daughters, Annie Laurie Richards and Shirley A. Bell; sister, Betsy L. Carden; brothers, James P. Morgan, George G. Martin, Jr. and Walter Ray Martin.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Elisabeth Hetzel of Fort Wright, KY; son, James K. Carter of Newport News, VA; sister, Mary Jane Bright of Kinston, NC; brothers, Rev. Robert H. Martin of Chatham, VA and Milton Gene Martin of Danville, VA; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. The funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Lake Wales.
