Annie Muriel Owens Blair Schubel

Annie Muriel Owens Blair Schubel, 78, of Lake Wales, passed away in Gainesville, on November 3, 2008 after a lengthy illness.

Born October 29, 1930 in Spokane, Washington, Mrs. Schubel was a long time resident of Lake Wales who moved here with her husband, and children after he retired from the air force. She retired after 20 plus years at the Belk Lindsey Department store at the Southgate Shopping center. She was a buyer for them in her later years. She loved arts & crafts, loved to read, loved her flowers, loved football especially the Gator’s and the Tampa Bay Bucs. She also enjoyed cooking. She was an artist and loved to paint flowers. She loved her job at Belk’s and was a dedicated military wife who loved her family.

She was the daughter of the late Wesley B & Thelma Buck Owens.

She was preceded in death by Kenneth Charles Schubel.

She was the beloved wife of retired US Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Eugene Clifton Blair who passed away on August 3, 1968. She was the beloved mother of Tony E. Blair of Gainesville, Florida and Renee D. Blair of Lake Wales, FL; 1 grandson SSMGT of the US Air Force, David Shane Carden of Melbourne, Florida; and three great - grandchildren. She was the beloved sister to the late Mary Owens Schneider and is survived by her brother, George Owens of St. Petersburg, Florida; and a brother in law Art Schneider and 6 nieces all of Lakeland.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales.

She will be laid to rest with her husband, Eugene Blair at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
