Anna Frances Hackle, 85
Anna Frances Hackle of Lake Wales passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at her residence.
She was born January 3, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York to the late William and Clotilde Sipp. Anna worked as a switchboard operator/secretary in Manhattan as a young adult. She moved her family to Delray Beach, Florida in 1972. Later on, as the children were growing Anna and her husband Roger flipped real estate in Palm Beach County before they moved to Lake Wales from Boynton Beach 26 year ago. Together they fixed up and were pleased to offer better quality housing to single mothers with children in the area. Roger was a retired Fire Chief of Palm Beach County and later they both retired from flipping real estate, long before Flipping was even heard of on TV.
Anna’s heart was full of love for her husband, their children, and others close to her, almost to a fault. But, if you were one who had the opportunity to know and love Anna you knew that through her demands and strength (which she showed everyone she encountered) that her heart was as big as that big beautiful smile she had.
Anna enjoyed bowling, gardening, listening to music, and dancing. She was quite a bowler; bowling in leagues for a few decades with family and friends. She also loved music, from attending an Elvis or Fats Domino concert in her teens to taking the family to a variety of concerts at the South Florida Fair Grounds. Her love and knowledge for music ranged from Swing, Doo Wop, Rock n Roll, Country, and more with favorites being, Elvis, Little Richard, Fats Domino, The Platters, Drifters, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton, Fleetwood Mac, The Bee Gees, and the list goes on. Music was her true enjoyment, especially to listen to and reminisce about in her later years. You put on an album she liked, and she smiled from ear to ear.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Brian Hackle in 2009; and sister, Clotilde Knights. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Mario Skaates of Boynton Beach and Roger John Hackle of Lake Wales; daughter, Debra Ann Gorham of Key West; granddaughter, Elizabeth Laura Skaates of Colorado; and sister, Lorraine Marino of Boynton Beach.
