Allen Lamar Sullivan, 71, a lifelong resident of Frostproof, FL passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015.
He was born August 4, 1944 in Lake Wales, FL, to the late Murdock Crum Sullivan and Grace Elizabeth (Stephens) Sullivan. He was retired from Alico where he was a property manager and real estate agent. He was involved in citrus and cattle all of his life. Allen was a veteran of the Florida National Guard.
Allen had a passion for his community of Frostproof. He served as Mayor, member of the City Council and he spearheaded the Frostproof Historical Preservation Committee for many years. He was active in Rotary. Allen was a volunteer for many years at Frostproof Elementary and Frostproof High School. He was PTO president , SAC committee member, judge for Senior Project Presentations, FFA, and helping with Project Graduation. He was active in leadership and coaching in Little League Baseball. He announced the Frostproof Football games for over 25 years and was known as "The Voice of the Bulldogs".
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Virginia Ellen (Hays) Sullivan; daughter, Jennifer Lyn Wheeler (Kevin) of Zephryhills, FL; sons, Richard Stephen Sullivan of Houston, TX and Charles Henry Sullivan (Crystal) of Aransas Pass, TX; brothers, Matthew Murdock (Jewellene) and Robert Gary (Toni) all from Avon Park, FL and James Larry (Estelle) of Frostproof, FL. Allen had four grandchildren, Courtney Nicole and Chance Michael Wheeler of Zephryhills, FL, Lane Allen and Treavor Charles Sullivan of Aransas Pass, TX.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Stephen Sullivan, all of Frostproof, FL.
A memorial service and a "Celebration of Life" will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Frostproof, FL.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
