Allen "Pete" Abbott Sr.

Allen "Pete" Abbott Sr of Lake Wales passed away Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 9, 1929 in Newark, NJ to the late James Allen & Alice May (Theimes) Abbott; he came here in 2003 from Key Largo. He was a retired police officer for the Newark, NJ Police Department, of the Episcopalian faith and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the American Legion in Key Largo and the V.F.W. in Key Largo. He was an avid Rangers hockey fan and enjoyed fishing and boating.

Allen was preceded in death by her wife, Irene Abbott in 1975 and a daughter, Brenda Dinkel in 2006. Survivors include his daughters, Linda Dabroski (Anthony) of Spotswood, NJ, Laura DeBoy (George) of Manahawkin, NJ, Barbara Mayer of Spotswood, NJ and Janet Warley (Richard) of Spotswood, NJ; sons, Allen Abbott Jr of Lake Wales and James Abbott of Key Largo; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. A memorial service will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
