Alicia R. Vargas, 80

Alicia R. Vargas of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at her residence.

She was born February 8, 1941 in Callao, Peru, to the late Alejandro and Celia Rivas-Plata; she moved to Lake Wales from Coral Springs a year and a half ago. Alicia was a retired housekeeper and was a member of Saint Andrews Church in Coral Springs. She was a wonderful cook who loved her sweets. She loved to knit and help people, and was always inviting people to her home for the holidays. Alicia took care of her great-granddaughter, and was always there for her children and grandchildren, she loved her family.

Alicia was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Vargas in 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Vargas and husband Roberto of Lake Wales, Florida; sons, Francisco Vargas and wife Ines of Coral Springs, Florida, Miguel Vargas and wife Norma of Bloomfield, New Jersey, Hector Vargas and wife Flor of Delray Beach, Florida, and Juan Vargas and wife Gloria of Bloomfield, New Jersey; brothers, Alejandro Rivas-Plata and wife Margarita of Bayamon, Puerto Rico; and Mario Rivas-Plata and wife Maritza of Lima, Peru; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Father David Vargas officiating.
