Alice Thornton passed away Monday, October 13, 2008 at her residence in Frostproof.

Born March 21, 1938 in Quitman, GA; she was a lifelong resident of the area. She owned and cooked in restaurants in Frostproof for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frostproof. She loved to fish, play cards, Yahtzee and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Taylor, and sister, Mary Watson. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Frank Thornton of Frostproof; daughter, Becky Thornton of Frostproof; sons, Chuck Thornton of Lake Wales and Sonny Clements of Soperton, GA; mother, Reba Taylor of Lake Wales; brother, Dusty Taylor of Illinois; sister, Marcella McDaniels of Lake Wales; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Frostproof. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, Frostproof with Pastor Harold Manis officiating. Interment will follow at the Corinth Primitive Baptist Cemetery.
