Alexander W. Comstock 86, of Lake Wales passed away suddenly Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
He was born September 21, 1927 in Mineola, New York to the late Walter C. and Eleanor Comstock and was also preceded in death by his brother Walter S. Comstock. He was a Marine Veteran of WWII, worked for the Long Island Lighting Company, and was a graduate of Adelphi University with 2 master’s degrees. Alex taught High School Science in Long Island and Deerfield Beach, Florida from where he retired. He was a licensed General Contractor in Florida and was an experienced Carpenter and plumber. He was a 60 year member of Matinecock Lodge #806, Oyster Bay, New York; and a former Republican Party Committeeman. Alex’s many hobbies included years of boating in Long Island, restoring and collecting classic cars, and he loved his many dogs and cats.
Alex is survived by his niece, Pamela Swenson of Oregon and her children Brian and Lauren Southy. He also leaves behind many lifelong close friends, all of whom will miss him forever.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales, Florida with Rev. David Durham officiating along with Full Military Honors by the American Legion. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
