“Big Al” was a veteran of WWII where he served in the US Air Force in Japan for two years.
Al attended the University of Nebraska and Idaho State University. He was a multi-sport athlete, excelling in basketball, football, track and field. He was recently inducted into the sports hall of fame at Idaho State.
Before moving to Florida, Al lived in Pocatello, Idaho where he was in the electrical business and later lived in Booneville, Indiana where he was in the power generation business.
Al met Jane Peeples in Miami, Florida in 1994 at a football game. They instantly fell in love and married shortly thereafter. Al was a lover of all sports, had a wonderful personality, loved people, and was an avid duplicate bridge player.
Al is survived by his wife Jane Kirlin, and two daughters, a son and three stepsons.
Memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, February 16, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church Lake Wales.
