Alan Hinkle

Alan D. “Al” “Honeybear” Hinkle of Marion, IN, and a winter resident of Frostproof, FL, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

He was born July 2, 1938 in Marion, IN to the late Loren & Olive Hinkle; and he starting coming to Frostproof, FL as a winter resident 15 years ago. He was retired after 42 years from Thompson Consumer Electronics, formerly RCA and GE; and he was a member of the Sunnycrest Baptist Church in Marion, IN and attended Family Life Church in Frostproof. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles with his daughter and going to auctions. He was also the owner/operator of Alan Hinkle Lawn Care until last year.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Margaret M. Hinkle; daughter, Kim Gaertig and her husband, Aaron of Marion, IN; son, Jeff W. Smith and his wife, Lisa of Tyler, TX; brother, Roger Hinkle and his wife, Margaret of Tucson, AZ; two grandchildren, Zachary Gaertig and Spencer Hinkle and his wife, Monica; and one great-grandson to be born in January 2014, Layne Alan Hinkle.

Memorial service will be held 12:00 noon Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Sunnycrest Baptist Church in Marion, IN.
