Adolph Louis Belser "Otto" "The Colonel" of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born April 12, 1923. Otto retired from the United States Army as a Colonel. He was a combat veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was also Chief of Staff of the Army War College and recipient of the Bronze Star, Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was active in his community, a member of the Masonic Order and Rotary. Otto was a man with a kind heart, an infectious smile and an upbeat attitude. "When it's too rough for everyone else, it's just right." He will be missed.
Otto was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Belser. Survivors include his daughters, Karen Peterson (Renno) and Valerie Long (Ron); son, Bruce Belser; brother, Gabriel Belser (Carol); five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Arlington National Cemetery.
