ABRAHAM JAMES “JIM” SAULS, AGE 77
Abraham James “Jim” Sauls, age 77, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Bowling Green, FL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2007 after complications from Parkinsons disease at the Valencia Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lakeland.
Jim was born on March 13, 1930, in Bowling Green, FL, to Hiram D. Sauls and Verdia “Mae” Starling Sauls. He attended high school and entered the Nacy from 1947-1951. He served in the Korean War and was stationed in China and served on the USS Orleck. Jim was very proud of his service to his country and received various medals and commendations. After serving in the Navy he moved out west to Montana where he was employed by the Great Northern railroad and owned a honeybee operation and worked as a beekeeper. Bees and honey were his life. In the 1960’s he moved back to Bowling Green where he owned a honeybee operation and owned and operated a blueberry farm where he and Joan hand planted, harvested and marketed the blueberrier.
Jim enjoyed spending time and working with his loving companion of 20 years Joan Waddle and was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved sports. He was happiest when he could marvel at and work in the great outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Harry Julian Hayes, a sister Nora Floyd, and a sister Margie. Jim is survived by a longtime companion of 20 years, Joan Waddle and her family Lucinda (Larry) Hayes, Phillip and Theresa of Lake Wales, FL, and Brenda (Richard) White, Amanda and Ashley of Babson Park, FL, a daughter Vicki (Lon) Reukauf and two grandchildren Thane and Lynze Reukauf, of Terry, MT; a sister Willie Belle “Billie” Robinson, of Evans, GA; a step-brother Harry (Joan) Hayes of Tulsa, OK; a sister Sharon Lee Baird of Medical Lake, WA; and his nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, January 7, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Wales.
