Abner L. “Jimmy” Hayes, 89 of Lake Wales, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
He was born on May 30, 1926 in Jenkins, Georgia to Linnie McMullin and he has been a resident of this area for over 50 years moving here form Ruskin, Florida. He was a carpenter. Abner took in anybody that needed a place to stay, he was a great father and grandfather, a good man. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donieta Hayes.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda Hayes Ollar and husband David of Lake Wales, Jan Torres and Jeri Nicolas both of Lake Wales; brother, Raymond Hayes of Lake Wales; grandchildren, Heather Batson, Heidi Mulkey, Sandy Hayes and Missy Hayes; 10 great grandchildren, Ryan Boggs, Molly Mantel, Wayland Hayes, Kellee Nicolas, Jaime Madrigal, Diana Nicolas, Antonio Nicolas, Mary Margaret Batson, Stetson Batson and Gavin Kugler.
Memorial services will be held 5:00 PM Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the family's residence with Kevin Respress and the American Legion post 8 officiating.
