William F. "Willie" Backman of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his residence.

He was born October 5, 1934 in North Wildwood, NJ to the late Henry and Alice (Langworthy) Backman; and came to Lake Wales from New Jersey in 1997. Willie was a retired distillery truck driver, of the Protestant faith, and a veteran of Korea, serving in the United States Army. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and watching old movies.

Willie is survived by his sister, Cynthia B. Rutherford of Lake Wales; nephews, Chris B. Rutherford of Plainfield, NJ and John M. Rutherford of Wilmington, DE.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
